Music and Choir

School-wide notes…

• ALL students are scheduled with class groupings to sing in worship throughout the year. Worship and music is a vital part of who we are at St. Paul. Each family received a paper schedule and we also put it online at calendar.splgrafton.org. Please make it a priority to be there - your children feel most secure when everyone is there like they practiced.  :-). "I will sing of steadfast love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will make music."  (Psalm 101:1)

• The Extracurricular Handbook  provides the expectations & requirements for participation in ANY extracurricular activity for the ENTIRE year (choir, sports team, forensics, handbell group, dance team, or jazz band). You can find it under the Resources page on the school website.

• Planning ahead...Spring Concert is THURSDAY, May 21.
  • 9am: all K-8 music groups, but doing shortened playlist
  • 5:30pm: K-4 music groups - ALL Gr. 3 & 4, Children's Choir, PraisePower
  • 6:45pm Gr. 5-8 music groups: JuBellate, JiVE, Beginning Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band

Not only does learning songs put God's word in their mind & heart, but it also teaches our kids to use their gifts in serving the Lord. This is part of who we are at St. Paul. 🙂

We can’t wait to see you in church. (If there is a conflict, please let me or your child's homeroom teacher know. We are also trying to teach our kids the importance of communicating when commitments must be missed.) THANK YOU for your partnership in making worship a priority in our community.

Eligibility Reminders:      This applies to Gr. 5-8 students in extracurricular Music Groups (Jazz Band, JiVE, Chapel Singers & JuBellate). Eligibility is checked every 2 weeks. The music handbook specifies the requirements. You get a 2-week warning if your grades are low. If they don't come up to the minimum requirements, then students may not be involved in practice or performances until their grades are high enough at the next eligibility check.
