Writing

  • Patterns of Power: As always, grammar is a tool for our writing, and in this next unit, we’ll work with the many ways that compound sentences are used to create effective Sentence Fluency.  We’ll also be reviewing the coordinating conjunctions, focusing specifically on when to correctly use and and but to connect ideas.
  • Writing: We’re choosing our own article for the summary on Monday and beginning the writing process, showing just how much reading and writing mirror each other:  reading and annotating; determining an inference or theme; crafting a thesis statement; and supporting it with specific details from the article.  We’ll then work on ways to elaborate and create fluency.

Health

Math

Practicing adding and subtracting integers both positive and negative is the name of the game.  While it might seem we're moving slow, this is the basis for many things to come so we're going to take our time with it.  By the end of the week we'll learn what to do when we multiply and divide integers.

Parents please be aware that we will be covering some mature topics as we go through these Commandments especially the 6th Commandment: You shall not commit adultery. Tuesday's memory quiz is The Fifth Commandment, "You shall not murder. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not hurt or harm our neighbor in his body, but help and support him in every physical need." Thursday's memory quiz is The Sixth Commandment, "You shall not commit adultery. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we lead a sexually pure and decent life in what we say and do, and husband and wife love and honor each other." The next sermon note is due November 10.
