Reading

We’re continuing reading The False Prince.  We’re exploring the literary element of theme -- the reason an author writes a piece, the lesson about life he or she hopes readers gain.  In our novel, we’ve identified the importance of being oneself, looking to the needs of others before ourselves, and understanding that sometimes what needs to be done is more important than what we want to be done. There will be short reading assignments this week.

Religion

This week we are looking at the 2nd & 3rd Commandments. Tuesday's memory quiz is on the Third Commandment, "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it." Thursday's memory quiz is on Hebrews 10:24-25, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." The second sermon note is due October 13.

Quarter Class

Communications 2.0:  Back again this year is Mrs. Haas teaching communications.  In this one quarter course, we will look deeper into digital citizenship by talking about our digital footprint & identify, privacy, security & big data, media & information literacy, and social interactions, safety & well-being.  Then we will build an AI foundation through topics including understanding how AI works, bias, algorithm as design choices, and information defense.  I look forward to growing with the students.
