Chapel Offerings

For the months of April and May, our chapel offerings will be sent to support the LCC K-9 comfort dogs organization. This ministry, which began in 2008, works to help bring comfort to people through the calming presence of Golden Retrievers.  Thanks to generous donors, this ministry is free for everyone they help. Our contributions can help ensure that this special service continues to be available to those who need it! Each student will also be given a Mite box to collect donations. These should be turned in by our closing chapel on Friday May 30th.

Writing

  • Writing: During these last days, we’ll finish working on developing our written responses to our reading.  
  • Patterns of Power - Do not be alarmed:  I’m writing this on purpose :):  Our last unit will focus on run-on sentences because I’m seeing students are having some challenges with recognizing them in their own writing, the purpose of the unit, then, will be to help them not only identify run-on sentences but also to revise them so they will have one last tool to craft effective sentences.  Whew!  

Health

Math

Welcome back to math class!  I'm Mrs. Schumann and I am your child's math teacher this year.  In most classes we will start with reviewing some basic math.  This year, don't be surprised if we don't cover the material in order.  I have found that doing certain units before the first unit in the math book is actually more beneficial to understanding the concepts and building on each child's math confidence.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I'm looking forward to a great year!

Reading

One of the joys of reading Esperanza Rising  with this class has been watching their understanding not only of time period and setting and historical conflict, but also, through their connections with the characters, their compassion for people who face such challenges has deepened.  This is one of the many reasons I love teaching.  

Religion

This week we are finishing up unit 8, Do The Next Right Thing, in Friendzy. We continue watching season one of The Chosen. Memory is Ephesians 2:8-10, ESV wording, and is due Thursday. 

Science

6th Science This week in 6th science we are learning about Movement in Space of the Earth, Stars, Moon and Sun.  No major tests or assignments this week!

Social Studies

We are finishing our unit collages we have started during classes this week.  That is it.

Vocab

Rather than continue with the next unit, each of us selected a word from the remaining units in our text to explain to the class through a Sketchnote.  Directions are posted on Vocabulary Google Classroom.

Quarter Class

Hey 7th graders!  Looks like you are having me for art during the first part of the year.  That's it for now.  We will talk more once school starts.
