October 19-23

"Pumpkins" will be our theme this week. We will learn about the life cycle of a pumpkin and about the letter "P." Each child will become a scientist and explore a pumpkin. 

Our Bible lesson this week is "God Has a Plan for Joseph" (The  Coat of  Many Colors). God is with us when we are sad or lonely.  We ask God to help us trust in him when we are sad or lonely. 

All of the Preschool classes will be joining together to create this year's "Happy at Home" school auction basket. We are asking that you contribute monetarily. Room parents will shop for items and create the basket. Donations can be brought in anytime. Should you want to participate in other ways, please speak to Jenny Warren (Leah's mom) our AM Room Parent or Jamie Nevins (Dylan's mom) our PM Room Parent. Thanks for your help. Donations are due by NOVEMBER 6th.

Our theme for the coming week is "Nuts About Numbers." We will be introduced to the letter "C" for counting. All of our activities, songs and games will reinforce number recognition.  The children will be given poems for writing the different numbers. Please practice with your child.   We will count and look at the pictures in the book  10 Black Dots by Donald Crews.  Then, we will have a chance to count some dots and make our own pictures. Another book we will read and sing along to is Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by Eric Litwin.   We will do Pete the Cat themed number matching and counting activities to go along with the story.

Our Bible lesson will be God Blesses Jacob and Takes Him Home Safely. We learn that God gives us what we need and even more.  God is always with us.

Planning for the St. Paul Auction is underway. We will be holding a virtual auction this year due to Covid restrictions. Please mark your calendar for Saturday November 14th to join in on the fun! Our Auction theme is Thankful, Grateful and Blessed! The Preschool Classes will be putting together Auction Baskets that will be up for bidding. Please watch for more information coming from room parents.

I-am -fearfully -and -wonderfully -made

This week our theme is "Wonderfully Made." We will discuss how God made each of us and  we are unique.The letter "X" for x-ray will be introduced in our Letter Journals. We will explore what our body is made up of such as muscles and bones. "Mat Man" will help us learn about the various parts of our body. We will be making a model of our lungs and talk about our favorite part of our body and why. 

I look forward to meeting with all of you for conferences this week. Progress reports were sent home on Friday for a majority of you. If you did receive one, you will be getting it on Monday. Please review this before our conference so you can think about it and have any questions ready. I will be sending you a Google Hangout invitation. Please accept it so we can chat.

Friday there is NO class for the PM Class.

The theme for this week is "Outer Space." We will be introduced to the letter "S" for stars and space. In gym class, we will blast off from earth and land on the moon. We will talk about what we would like to do on the moon. We will even make a spacey treat to eat and a book about constellations. The children will blow bubbles to make craters on a paper moon.  Watch for pictures of your child blasting off in a space shuttle.

Our Bible lesson is "God Makes Abraham's Faith Grow." God gives us faith in him. We love God and show that he is most important in our lives. 

There will be an online sign up for virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. The conferences will take place October 5-9th. I look forward to meeting with all of you.

Friday, October 2nd, I will be taking a day off to travel to Minnesota to celebrate my niece's wedding. My substitute will be Mrs. Amy Schumacher, our 2K teacher.

New book orders will come home on Monday. We had great participation last month, thank you so much.

Veggies & Ice Cream Drive-In -    It's Veggies & Ice Cream . . . with a twist! Saturday, September 26th beginning at 6:30pm we will be hosting the Veggies & Ice Cream event your kids love as a drive-in. Pack your family in the car, bring blankets and chairs, and head to St. Paul's lower parking lot for a movie under the stars on the big screen! We'll be watching a classic Veggie Tales movie, having a fun sing-a-long, and of course ending the evening with a make it yourself ice cream sundae. Our theme this week is "Rodeo Round-up." We will begin the week as we make a book about what a cowboy/girl wears. We will also have fun using rope to make the letter H and trace around a horseshoe. We have been completing a farm animal riddle book. When it comes home, please read it together. The children are proud of it. All of the children will complete their cowgirl/cowboy outfits by making a hat and a bolo tie.

This Friday we will have a county fair/livestock show. Please send a stuffed animal or a picture of an animal that you would see on a farm. Children will get to show their animal and receive a special ribbon for it. 

"God Speaks Abraham Listens" is the Bible lesson this week. God gives us many promises. We ask God to help us trust in him and his promises.

October calendars and book orders will be coming home this next week. 

We will be having Parent-Teacher conferences the first week of October. Watch for a signup soon.
