Week of January 2nd

Happy New Year!  As we begin this year of 2022, may we remember that God knows everything that will happen in the year ahead and has His perfect plan ready.  It may not be easy, but with God it is impossible.  He walks with us each day.

  • THANK YOU! Thank you so much for your generosity in gift giving this Christmas.  Your gifts touched my heart and we truly appreciated.  I’m blessed to call St. Paul home and to be a part of your child’s life for this his/her 3rd grade year.
  • Miss Goodwin: Our student teacher will be teaching all subjects this week to fulfill her requirements.  Her time with us ends on January 21st.
  • MAP Testing: We will have our MAP Reading test right away on Tuesday morning.  Please encourage your child to do their best.
  • Reading: The students are heavy into our mystery unit and their own mystery books.  We had a great time with the Candy Cane Culprit and look forward to solving more mysteries in the weeks to come.
  • Math: This week we will learn about fractions equal to one, equivalent fractions, finding fractions on a number line, and comparing fractions.
  • Spelling: This week’s words will focus on words with consonant sounds c and g.  You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 13.  Spelling City has fun games and activities to learn the words.  https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
  • Religion: This week we will see the Wise Men find Jesus and experience Jesus going to the temple as a boy.
  • Writing: It will be exciting to dive into writing our own mystery since we are reading so many mysteries.  I can’t wait to see what the students come up with in their creative minds.
  • Memory Work: Tuesday’s memory will be a short verse that corresponds with our religion lessons while Thursday will be our Christian Character Formation verse.  Please see below for the verses.
  • Christian Character Formation Project:  Our lesson will show us how Jesus taught with authority while the virtue is integrity.
  • Weekly Quote: If you scrub your hands of sin and refuse to entertain evil in your home, you’ll be able to face the world unashamed and keep a firm grip on life, guiltless and fearless.  You’ll forget your troubles; they’ll be like old, faded photographs, Your world will be washed in sunshine, every shadow dispersed by dayspring.  Full of hope, you’ll relax, confident again; you’ll look around, sit back, and take it easy. – Job 11:14-18 (The Message Bible)

Always in His care,

Mrs. Haas
