Week of December 12th

The 12 Days of Christmas!  The 1st and 2nd Graders did such a great job leading our advent worship this week.  The best gift ever given IS Jesus.  Regifting this gift is expected.  I pray that we are all able to find someone new to share this gift with in this Christmas season.

  • Jesus is the Reason Breakfast: It occurred to me that our new families may have no idea what this really is.  Basically it is a birthday party for Jesus that the 3rd and 4th grade families put on.  It is a great event to enjoy with fellow church and school families.  It is this Sunday!  Thank you to everyone working hard to make this a great event!
  • Gift Exchange: During our Christmas party on December 22nd, we will be having a gift exchange.  Please have your child bring a gift of their same gender.  We will be doing a fun exchange.  On the tag indicate if it is from a boy or girl and leave the student name off!  Please be on the lookout for more information for how you can help with snack items.
  • December 22nd:  Please note this school day has been changed to a half day.  Dismissal is at 11:40.
  • Miss Goodwin: Our student teacher will be starting to take over more subjects in the coming week.  She will be teaching Spelling, Math, Reading, Social Studies, and Religion.
  • Reading: The students are heavy into our mystery unit and their own mystery books.  We are talking about motive, opportunities, and evidence.
  • Math: We will learn more about fractions plus some probability.  We will also have a test on Friday.
  • Spelling: This week our words will focus on prefixes.  See below for the list.  Also you may use spelling city unit 12 for fun games and activities to learn the words.  https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
  • Religion: This week we will hear about Jesus’ birth.
  • Writing: With the beginning of mysteries, we will continue looking at persuasive arguments, taking sides, and analyzing each side.
  • Memory Work: We will continue our Tuesday and Thursday schedule.  Tenth commandment will be Tuesday with our Christian Character verse on Thursday.  See below for the verse.
  • Christian Character Formation Project:This week our lessons will move to the New Testament and talk about John baptizing Jesus while our virtue is respect.
  • Weekly Quote: At this Christmas when Christ comes, will He find a warm heart?  Mark the season of Advent by loving and serving the others with God’s own love and concern. – Mother Teresa

Always in His care,

Mrs. Haas
