5th Grade Families,
We did it! We survived a full week of school complete with an intruder drill, a science lab, and multiple quizzes in one day. Now that we are 4 weeks in, many of the fifth graders have made lots of progress and have really figured out how to “do” middle school. There are a few stragglers, but they will figure it out as we go, and each week/month will get a little better. Please continue to expect assignments and workload to increase a little more each week. This next week, we will begin prepping for our Chapel Service in October.

INFORMATION/UPDATES:
📸Photo Retakes: If you wish to have your child’s school portrait retaken, please dress them for pictures on September 24. No need to sign up in advance, just be sure your child knows to come up when “5th grade” is called to the Family Life Center.
🗣️🔊Forensics: One of the exciting opportunities that is open to 5th graders is Forensics! Forensics is a speech/drama-esque competition where students are given a piece to perform for a group of judges. Mrs. Pingel talked with the class last week, and permission slips were given to those who were interested on Thursday. It’s an awesome way to get comfortable speaking in front of people! (and doesn’t require any memorization). Please ask your child if he/she signed up and if not, encourage your child to participate – there is still time to try Forensics! The one and only competition will be one Saturday in November @ Sheboygan Lutheran High School.
🍁Harvest Fest: Please join us at Creekside Valley Farm on Friday, Sept 25 for a night of food, fun and fellowship! We hope you can make it. See the weekly ECHO for more details.
💲🧺5th Grade Auction Basket Update:Please LOOK for an email from Jamie Nevins sent earlier this week for details on how you can help our school by donating an item(s) to our 5th Grade “Made in Wisconsin” class basket.
🧑🔬CALLING ALL ENGINEERS & SCIENTISTS: I am looking for volunteers to help with my “Bring Your Scientist/Engineer to School Day” events this year. If you (or someone you know) works in the field of engineering or science, please reach out if you may be interested in doing a mini-career day with our fifth graders this year. I would have you tell students a little bit about what you do and/or we could do a Q&A session. I am always looking to plant seeds for future scientists & engineers! You would need the flexibility to come to St. Paul ONE day this school year between 10am and 11:30am. Please contact me if you (or someone you know) is interested. Thanks!
