Happy Friday Everyone!
Just five weeks to go! Time is flying and I hope your child is finishing the “race” strong by giving their all until the very end. We still have a lot to learn in the coming weeks! And a whole lot of fun is planned too. Field trip costs are in and are posted in the updates below. Let me know if you can help chaperone either of our upcoming field trips. We will be heading to Riveredge next week Thursday May 14. Have a great weekend.

INFORMATION/UPDATES:
***SPECIAL FIELD TRIP PARENT REQUEST: Please note that we will have 2 field trips coming up that will require some parent chaperones. We will be visiting Riveredge from 9 to 1pm on May 14 and we will have an all day field trip to a ropes course on June 2. IF you are interested/willing/able to chaperone, it is ESSENTIAL that you fill out a background check application BEFORE May 1 if you have not already done so this school year. I included the link to the form which can also be found on the RESOURCES tab of the school website.
🩳Shorts in May: From Mr. Yurk: students are allowed to wear shorts to school for the rest of the school year. Shorts must be mid-thigh length or longer. Spandex, biker shorts, cutoffs (jeans or sweatpants), torn shorts, tight or short shorts/skorts/skirts, and athletic shorts are not permitted. When the weather is cold, like it was on May 1, students should be dressed appropriately to go outside for recess.
🙏National Day of Prayer: On Thursday, May 7, our school will participate in National Day of Prayer beginning at 8:30am at the flagpole on the north side of campus. During this time, we will pray together and recognize our local police officers, firefighters, veterans, and celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country. Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in honor of this special day. If the weather does not allow us to be outside, the event will take place inside the church.
5/6 Spring Field Trip Information:
🌱MAY 14, 2026: This spring, the 5th graders will be traveling to Riveredge to help apply our classroom learning about Energy & Ecosystems to their everyday world. The cost of this field trip will be $15. Permission slips will come home on Monday and will be due by Wednesday.
🪢 TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2026: Each year, our middle school classes also do a fun/educational field trip in the spring. This year, our students will be participating in a ropes course. The cost of this field trip will be $54. Please plan accordingly. Permission slips will come home on Monday & will be due May 15, 2026.
MAP TESTING PARENT NOTES: From Mrs.Geischen: MAP testing will be the second and third weeks in May. It is very important that our students be present and ready to do their best on their assigned testing days. A good night of rest and a great breakfast to start the day is always needed! A letter went home this week with your youngest child and ncluded a letter, an envelope and a piece of paper. Please write a short note of encouragement to your child. Let them know you will be praying for them. Please return the envelope (with your child’s name written on it) to your classroom teacher or to the main office mailbox by Friday, May 8th. Remember that this is a SECRET MISSION. We don’t want the students to know about your note til the day of their first test! And we don’t want any student to feel left out. Please be sure to return your letter. Thank you for your ongoing support!
✝️Lutheran Junior Honor Association (LJHA) Information…This coming August, our fifth graders will have the opportunity to apply for membership into the Junior Lutheran National Honor Association (LJHA) if they are able to meet the criteria set forth. If you are interested in this honor, please see my detailed email from 3/13. I will discuss this opportunity briefly with the fifth graders this coming week and they will have an opportunity to ask questions. Please know that many more details will be sent from the NJHA Coordinators – Mrs. Yurk, Mrs. Wulfkuhle, & Mr. Fischer in a couple of months.
