5th Grade Families,
We have made it ! 7 days in the books! The fifth graders are doing AWESOME! I have been incredibly impressed and we have been having so much fun learning together! They have been focused in class and participating in active class discussions. They should be SO proud of themselves. Now that we have started to dig into our course content in all classes, the fifth graders are finding that they are going to do more thinking than they had to do in the past as this is the year they begin to apply, analyze and evaluate information, rather than simply to grow their skills and knowledge. This will be a gradual change, but can be overwhelming for some students. Know they will all get to where they need to be, but not all at the same time. Continue to encourage, support and be patient. 🙂 Again, encourage them that it will get easier with time. Brown envelopes (graded work) will come home Tuesday for the first time as well. I will send out a reminder for this first week. 🙂 Also, just a quick note that I will be out of the classroom leading the 7th & 8th graders’ courage retreat on Thursday, so we will be having a substitute teacher that day.
I wish you all a blessed long holiday weekend!
~Mrs. Zvara

📂📎Middle School Papers: This Monday brown envelopes will be coming home for the first time. A good rule of thumb is to keep all of your child’s school work for the entire trimester either in a file or box at home. Sometimes, a paper gets home before it gets handed in to me, or occasionally I might accidentally hand an assignment back that didn’t get into the gradebook (or it doesn’t save). After grades come out on trimester report cards, feel free to recycle them!
🧑Room Parent update: We are still looking for a room parent this year. If you can help, please sign up. (If not, maybe you could find a second parent and take on the role together?) Thanks for considering!
⛪🌭🎵Church Picnic/K-8 Sing in Church: On Sunday September 13th, we will be gathering to celebrate St. Paul at the church and school picnic. K-8 is scheduled to sing at the outdoor service at 11am. All students are expected to attend. If for some reason you are unable, please send an email to Ms. Bremer to let her know as soon as you can. We appreciate the open and thoughtful communication.
🧑🔬CALLING ALL ENGINEERS & SCIENTISTS: I am looking for volunteers to help with my “Bring Your Scientist/Engineer to School Day” events this year. If you (or someone you know) works in the field of engineering or science, please reach out if you may be interested in doing a mini-career day with our fifth graders this year. I would have you tell students a little bit about what you do and/or we could do a Q&A session. I am always looking to plant seeds for future scientists & engineers! You would need the flexibility to come to St. Paul ONE day this school year between 10am and 11:30am. Please contact me if you (or someone you know) is interested. Thanks!
📆 Student Appointments/Pickup: If your child has an appointment during the school day and will be leaving school, please remind them to go through the school office when they leave AND when they return. This allows us to document that a student left so that we can keep track of everyone. If an absence is planned, we appreciate it if you let the teachers know.
