5th Grade Weekly Update Jan 24-28

Dear 5th Grade parents and students,

Happy Friday!

Parent-Teacher Conferences:  Thank you ALL SO MUCH for participating in our student-led conferences. I hope you found them informative and helpful. It was a joy watching and listening to our students think and talk about their progress and learning in school.  They worked really hard at writing meaningful goals they can focus on in the coming weeks. Please support them and check in with them often, asking how they are doing with their goals to help them be accountable for meeting their goals. This is an important step in the students taking ownership of their learning in school and developing more independence.  If we were unable to meet this week, I look forward to meeting with you soon.

World of Discovery Fair:  Students whose projects have been accepted may begin work on their WODF Projects.  Students have four months to complete this project and should put a significant amount of time and effort into this project throughout that time period. Students will be graded by a panel of judges and awards will be given in each category.  We can’t wait to see our students’ show off their artistic talents & gifts!

Items Needed:    Our 5th graders are each going to need one shoebox later this spring. I am giving you a heads up now…. If someone buys a new pair of shoes in the coming months, please send a box or two with your 5th grader. The kids can drop them in Mrs. Zvara’s classroom anytime in the morning.

Supplies: many of the fifth graders’ supplies are missing/damaged/have run out.  Many students have lost or run out of glue sticks and many whiteboarding EXPO markers have dried up.  Please ask your 5th grader about his/her supplies – especially pencils, colored correcting pens, EXPO markers and glue sticks.  Please replenish their stock of supplies as soon as possible if necessary.
