4th Grade Weekly Update (5/11-5/15)
Hi there, fourth grade families!
I’m so sorry my note is a little late in getting to you this week. I hope you all have had a blessed Mother’s Day.
The end of the year remains very eventful for us in fourth grade, so here are a few reminders and updates for the coming weeks:
- MAP Testing: We will begin our final round of MAP testing on Monday with our reading test. If you have any notes of encouragement for your children at home, please send them by Monday if you are able! We will be cheering each other on to finish the year strong.
- Madison field trip: Our field trip to Madison is Tuesday, May 19. Permission slips will be coming home on Monday. Please have them returned by Thursday, May 14 if possible. All students are encouraged to bring a chaperone, so please feel free to attend if you are able!
- Wax Museum: The class worked very hard on their wax museum assignments this week. We have completed research, learned how to paraphrase, wrote topic sentences, and worked on our rough drafts. Next week, we are publishing and will be working on our introductions, conclusions, and speeches for presenting. We are planning on having the wax museum sometime in the last week of May. The date will be confirmed and sent home next week. You are all welcome to attend!
- Spelling: Our theme for this week is Latin roots-
- generous
- generic
- general
- portable
- transport
- passport
- durable
- endure
- objection
- eject
- Memory:
- For Tuesday: Matthew 18: 20: For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
- For Thursday: 2nd half of explanation to Luther’s second article: not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.
