Middle School Religion — Mrs. Butz

Weekly Update - November 30, 2020

Happy New Year! November 29th begins the season of Advent and the beginning of a new church year. As we come back from Thanksgiving break we also begin a new Trimester, and know that even though the weather is getting colder we know that Christmas is only a few short weeks away.

6th Grade

As we head into the new trimester we will finish up the healing stories of Jesus and begin looking at some of His parables.

Memory Quiz #11 - DUE December 4th
Isaiah 9:6 ~ For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Journal Entry #7 - DUE December 11th
Listen to the song "Joseph's Lullaby"
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNpsHJIIQSg) on Google Classroom.

Joseph was Mary's husband and Jesus' earthly father. How do you think Joseph felt knowing that Jesus was God's Son, and that Jesus was only entrusted into his care. Be sure to explain WHY you think this is how Joseph felt.

7th Grade

We will finish up our study of the Ten Commandments, and prepare for our first Religion test on the Ten Commandments

Memory Quiz #10 - DUE December 3rd (YURK) or 4th (KELL)
Ninth Commandment and Meaning ~ You shall not covet your neighbor's house. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not scheme to get our neighbor's inheritance or house, or get it in a way which only appears right, but help and be of service to him in keeping it.

Journal #6 -  DUE December 3rd (YURK) or 4th (KELL)
What is your most valuable possession? What if that possession was gone? How would you feel? What would you do to get it back? How does realizing that everything we have is really a gift that God has given us change the way we approach our possessions?
