Memory Work for 2020-21 

The date listed for each verse is the Monday of the week the verse is assigned. Students may recite their memory verse any day of the week.

  AUGUST

26 - Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

(we will learn this one together as a class)

31 -   Romans 3:23   For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

SEPTEMBER

7 - First Article of the Apostles Creed (Creation)  

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

14 - Psalm 37:5   Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

21 -   1st Commandment:  You shall have no other gods.

28- Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

OCTOBER

5 - 8th Commandment:  You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

12 - 10th Commandment:  You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

19 - Matthew 26:41a   Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation.

26 - Romans 8:28  And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.

NOVEMBER

2  Ephesians 4:32   Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

9- Jeremiah 29:11   For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

16 - 1 Peter 5:8  Be sober-minded; be watchful.  Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay.  Close by me forever and love me I pray.  Bless all the dear children in thy tender care.  And take us to heaven to live with thee there.  

DECEMBER

14-   The Second Article of the Apostles' Creed (Redemption)

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.  He descended into hell.

JANUARY

4-   The Second Article of the Apostles' Creed (Redemption)(continued)  

The third day He rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

11-  4th Commandment:  Honor your father and your mother (in class)

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful I know that full well.  Psalm 139:14

18- God is great, God is good, God made all that we see, like stars and the earth and the flowers and bees, but most of all I'm thankful for making me.  

25-  Psalm 119:105   Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.  

FEBRUARY

1 - 5th Commandment:   You shall not murder 

8-  John 3:16   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  

15-  3rd Commandment: Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

22-  Romans 10:17   So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

MARCH

1-    The Third Article of the Apostles' Creed  (Sanctification)

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen

8- The Lord's Prayer

15-  John 14:19  Because I live, you also will live.  

22-  Matthew 7:7   Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

APRIL

5  2nd Commandment:  You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God.

12-   Ephesians 2:8   For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.

19-   Matthew 18:20  "For where two or three are  gathered in my name, there am I among them."

26 - Proverbs 3:5   Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

MAY

3 - John 8:47a   Whoever is of God hears the words of God.

10-  6th Commandment:  You shall not commit adultery.

17-1 John 1:7b   The blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

24-    7th Commandment:  You shall not steal.

           9th Commandment:   You shall not covet your neighbor's house.
