Weekly Newsletter 11/15-11/19
Good afternoon, fourth grade families!
With only one more full week of school before Thanksgiving break (where did the time go??), here are a few updates for you all:
- We are practicing for our Christmas service next week with the other 3rd and 4th grade classes. We will be sharing our Christmas service during chapel on December 1 and during church that evening. More information will be coming as we get closer to the date.
- Additionally, students did a great job with rehearsing their parts this week! Their goal for this next week is to know what lines come before theirs so they are ready to practice with no scripts in the sanctuary.
- Please also mark your calendars for the Jesus is the Reason breakfast on Sunday, December 12. This is a 3rd and 4th grade event that we will need lots of volunteers for. Again, more information will be sent out as we get closer to the date.
- This week in class, we started a new math program online called Xtra math. It is an individualized program where students answer addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts. As soon as students master one level, they are moved on to the next. If they need more practice with a certain set of problems, the program gives them more practice with those problems, and I am given a report of their testing. I will keep you updated as we try this new program with our math facts. If you are looking for a way to practice math facts at home, let me know and I can send over your child’s log-in information.
- Science Test: We will be having a science test this upcoming Tuesday. Here is a link to a game we played in class to review our major topics: http://www.superteachertools.us/jeopardyx/jeopardy-review-game.php?gamefile=2755713#.YY7dn2DMKUl
- Memory:
- For Tuesday: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
- For Thursday: Luther’s Evening Prayer- “I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.”
