We will read about Moses leaving Egypt and God calling Moses. We will be reminded that God wants us to obey his commandments instead of doing things in our own sinful ways. Writer’s Workshop |
This week we will practice how to writing. We will learn about sequence and write about how to do something using transition words (first, next, then, last). |

Concepts that we will practice include estimating the capacity of containers, ordering containers by capacity, identifying 1-cup liquid measure,identifying the even numbers to 20, identifying and locating numbers on a hundred number chart, and counting dimes and pennies. |

NEW and IMPORTANT- Colonial Tea Party – Thank you for all of the donations for our Colonial Tea Party. We enjoyed celebrating and trying new foods together. Fall/Winter Wear – It is starting to get cooler. Please begin to look for hats, gloves and warmer coats to send to school with your child. Memory Work – Memory Work has been updated on the website and a copy has been sent home. Our Advent Service Memory Work will be sent home today. PAST NEWS- Whole School Book Club (optional) – Come be a part of our 1st WHOLE SCHOOL BOOK CLUB! We will be reading “The Family Under the Bridge”. The book is 95 pages and all ages will enjoy reading it. You can set your own time and schedule to read as a family. If you would like to participate, please let Mrs. Pingel or Mrs. Gieschen know and a permission slip will be sent home. Mrs. Gieschen will send home a bag DECEMBER 1st with the book and some treasures to help you have some discussions and fun while you read. October/November Chapel Offerings – Chapel offerings will be used to support and build a new school in Cambodia. Pizza Hut Book-It Program- Pizza Hut Book-It calendars were sent home last week. This optional reading program may use the same reading minutes as your star sheets. For every star that is colored in, one symbol may be colored in on the Book-It sheet. Book-It goal is 20 symbols for 20 minutes each per month. Auction Basket – Items for our 1st grade Au Naturel auction basket are still being accepted. Thank you to those who already donated. Also consider attending the auction. It is a wonderful evening with St. Paul families and friends as well as the opportunity to bid on fun items. Here is the link to register https://splgrafton.ejoinme.org/splauction Parent/Teacher Conferences – Parent teacher conferences will be meeting in person next Thursday and Friday unless you noted a virtual preference. I am looking forward to meeting with you. Please note the 11:40 dismissal time on Friday. Spelling – Spelling began this week. We will take a pretest on Wednesday and final test on Friday. If you happened to print a list off of the website for the whole year, please note that the *high frequency words have been updated so the list should be reprinted. Reading Road Race Rally – Upcoming souvenir dates: 12/6 Frisque 12/13 Zalewski The reading log that was sent home will be used for our Reading Road Race Rally. We will participate in this with Mrs. Boyce’s class. Please have your child read at least 20 minutes, 4 times a week. A star should be colored in for each reading session. Please note that shoeboxes (Glove Compartments) can stay at home to be filled with the souvenirs that are brought home each week. Room Parents/Liason- Thank you to Hilary Collins, Meagan Steinke and Jessica Loppnow for volunteering as our roomparents this year. Look for information coming soon regarding this year’s auction basket. Snack – Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. I will have extra snacks available in case it is forgotten on a busy morning. Waterbottles can be used throughout the day and can be refilled at the drinking fountain. Chapel – Our chapel offerings for August/September will be used for Care Packages for college students.
