Week of November 14th

The end of the semester is Friday!  Please be up to date with fast direct grades and recognizing if your child has any missing work.  I will be working on report cards during the Thanksgiving break.

  • New Website: Paul is launching a new website right before Thanksgiving.  When you fall on the splgrafton.org page it will look different but should be easier to navigate.
  • Jesus is the Reason Breakfast: Our 3rd/4th grade event is the Jesus is the Reason Breakfast and it is on!  And it’s quickly approaching.  The breakfast will be Sunday, December 12.  We will need lots of help to make this event a success.  More details will be coming soon, but for now, please save the date.  Thank you!
  • Christmas Service Parts: Your child was given their parts for our Christmas service which will be on December 1st.  Please review them with your child.  Some of them have to be memorized and those students know who they are.  If they speak from the pulpit or lectern they will not need to memorize.  Our service will include both 3rd and 4th
  • Reading: We are finishing our non-fiction unit this week.  We have learned a lot about reading expository non-fiction to narrative non-fiction.  Through our biographies, we even learned about a special person.
  • Math: We will learn about length and measuring to the nearest inch.  Then we will take a test after reviewing.
  • Social Studies: We will finish our Colonial Kids unit with a test on Thursday.  We have learned so much about like in earlier days.  Ask your child about how they brushed their teeth or how often they took baths.
  • Spelling: This week our words will focus on consonant blends – squ, spl, thr, and str.  See below for the list.  Also you may use spelling city unit 9 for fun games and activities to learn the words.  https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
  • Religion: Miss Goodwin will teach this week.  She will cover Joseph’s brother journeys to Egypt.
  • Writing: We will finish up our summaries regarding our non-fiction books.
  • Memory Work: We will be back to our Tuesday and Thursday schedule.  Seventh commandment will be Tuesday with our Christian Character verse on Thursday.  See below for the verse.
  • Christian Character Formation Project:This week our lessons will look at how God responds to Job while our virtue is respect.
  • Weekly Quote:  A little child was walking on evening with his mother. He looked up at the sky and said, “Mommy, if the wrong side of heaven is this beautiful, imagine what the right side looks like!”  Maybe we don’t amount to much.  But imagine how we will look when we’re turned right side out. – Barbara Johnson

Always in His care,

Isaiah 55:8-9 – For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
