Finally feeling spring: Yay! The weather looks to be gorgeous tomorrow with hopefully more of the same to come. As the weather gets warm, it’s easy to think summer and that’s it. Yet we still have a job to do at school to finish strong and do our best. Let’s keep working hard and rejoicing in the gifts that God gives to us each day especially in these warmer temperatures.
- Memorial Day Weekend: Don’t forget that we have early dismissal on Friday at 11:40 and no school on Monday, May 25th.
- Picnic Forms: Please return these ASAP. Thank you to the many who have already done so!
- Worship Service Change: Please note that St. Paul’s Sunday service time is changing temporarily and this is the last week. Sunday Services will be at 8:00 and 10:30 with a dedicated Sunday School hour at 9:15. Saturday and Monday services do not change.
- Reading: To culminate our Unit 5 in Reading, students will be giving their persuasive speeches on Monday. Speeches will encourage us to go or not go to a particular vacation destination. We have made it through our MyView books which allow us the next few weeks to do another book study. We will be reading Charlotte’s Web together and complete some fun activities while we read.
- Writing: Continuing with our narrative writing, students will continue to work on their realistic fiction or historical fiction story including a natural disaster, location climate, and dialogue. These stories will be due on May 22. Students that finish early will spend some time free writing.
- Math: This is taught by Miss Schulz. As MAP approaches students are working on Unit 12 (Measurement/Data) and Unit 13 (2D Shapes). Students will need to be familiar with these two units for MAPS success.
- Spelling: Since we have finished our Reading unit, students will have a week of words that relate to our reading of Charlotte’s Web. They are mainly vocabulary words that we will discuss in the first few chapters of reading. The test will be on Friday before early dismissal.
- Religion: This week we will see how the disciples are treated following Jesus’ Ascension. We will see the how the Apostles are persecuted and talk about Pentecost.
- Memory Work: Memory work/spelling sheets will be sent home on Monday. Both verses this week relate to our Religion lessons. Tuesday’s memory is the Acts 5:29 and Thursday is Proverbs3:5-6.
- Powerful Panther Pillars: New this year, students will be working through the fruits of the spirit (now known as Panther Pillars) with their classmates and chapel families. Our ninth and final pillar is SELF-CONTROL.
- Weekly Quote: Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.” – Song of Songs 2:12-13
