Maycember: Perhaps you are familiar with this term or it may be a new one for you. In Short, ChatGPT characterizes it as this Maycember = May + December vibes (busy, overwhelming, nonstop schedules). Are you feeling this way? For me I have very few evenings at home with nonstop baseball games for my son. This past week, it was 6 games. Throw in other after school activities for my husband starting his own softball games and my daughter’s activities plus anything for myself. I’m sure you may feel the same especially if you have more than two active kids. It can be overwhelming nonetheless. Yet, God stand right in the mix calming the storm, giving us comfort. Have you called on Him to do so? He longs to relieve your stress. I encourage you to spend some moments in pray, in praise, in reflection, in His Word. There are many options to find Him. And don’t forget that this Maycember will be done before we know it. God’s got you!
- Field Trip Form and Notes: Many of you have already done so, but don’t forget the field trip form and MAP notes. Also coming in the next days will be a permission slip for track and field day plus a sheet for the picnic day. Please be on the lookout.
- Worship Service Change: Please note that St. Paul’s Sunday service time is changing temporarily. For the next six weeks, Sunday Services will be at 8:00 and 10:30 with a dedicated Sunday School hour at 9:15. Saturday and Monday services do not change.
- Reading: Our final unit of our reading curriculum is finishing this week. Unit 5 has been all about solutions. In this final week, students will create a good slide presentation and give a speech on a place that people should or shouldn’t visit. Students will then share for their class their presentation as a speech.
- Writing: Continuing with our narrative writing, students will continue to work on their realistic fiction or historical fiction story including a natural disaster, location climate, and dialogue. These stories will be due on May 22.
- Math: This is taught by Miss Schulz. As MAP approaches students are working on Unit 12 (Measurement/Data) and Unit 13 (2D Shapes). Students will need to be familiar with these two units for MAPS success.
- Spelling: Since we are finishing a Reading unit, students will have review words this week. All of the words should be familiar as they have been on a list in the previous 5 weeks. Please remember that spelling is not just about memorizing the ten words but also learning the skill and pattern associated with the words.
- Religion: This week we will continue to learn about Jesus and his earthly ministry through the stories of Jairus’s daughter and his ascension.
- Memory Work: Memory work/spelling sheets will be sent home on Monday. Tuesday’s memory is the third article of the Apostle’s Creed which should be familiar. Thursday’s memory is connected to our last Panther Pillar and is found in 2 Timothy 1:7.
- Powerful Panther Pillars: New this year, students will be working through the fruits of the spirit (now known as Panther Pillars) with their classmates and chapel families. Our ninth and final pillar is SELF-CONTROL.
- Weekly Quote: Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. – Proverbs 4:23
