Week of March 7th

Week of March 7th

What is 1st Grade Learning?

Religion

We will read about Jesus preaching in Nazareth and Capernaum.  We will discuss how we study God’s Word to keep our faith strong so we never fall away from Jesus in unbelief.  We will also reflect on how God is an amazing God.

Virtue of the Week:  RESPECT: God’s power for you to honor Him and others.  Big Question:  How can a childlike faith enable you to show love and respect for others?

Memory:  The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

Reading

We will learn that readers have big jobs to do when they are the boss of their reading.  We will continue to explore vowel teams (ai, ay, ee, ea, oa, ow, ou and oo).

Phonics: Vowel Teams (ai, ay, ea, ee, ew, ue, oa, ow)

Reading Fluency Skill:  Smoothing out our reading and stopping if a word does not sound right, look right, or make sense.
