Week of March 6th

Interest Day Fun and Family Day to Come!  What a great day we had today with interest day.  The students were excited and seemed to have a great time.  Now we have family day to look forward to in just two weeks.

  • Family Day: Speaking of family day…Please be sure to fill out the survey located in my weekly email.  This will help with planning purposes and should be completed by Sunday, March 6th.  Thanks! For those unfamiliar with family day, this is a special day in which parents/grandparents/special adult friends get to spend the day with their child.  We will have Chapel followed by different activities in the classroom.  Dismissal is at 11 am.
  • Reading: The completion of reading Winn Dixie is this week!  We have hit the peak of the mountain and are wondering if Winn Dixie is lost forever.  What a fun journey we have been on with Opal.  We are also continuing our work with our book clubs.  Ask your child about the book they are reading with their group.
  • Math: We will start the week with a review and test. Then we will learn about prisms, counting cubes, and volume.
  • Spelling: Our words this week will focus on words with the following syllable pattern – cvvc with a syllable break between the vowels.  You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 21 which has fun games and activities to learn the words.  https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
  • Religion: The Israelites journey from Egypt to the Promised Land is nearing completion.  This week we will learn about the 12 spies and Korah’s Rebellion.
  • Writing: Poetry month is April.  In preparation we will be doing a fun poetry unit led through video by Tanner Olson who is a Christian author with “Written to Speak”.  We will also be doing author’s chair with our stories that we completed this past week.
  • Memory Work:Tuesday’s memory will bring see us memorizing all of the New Testament books of the Bible.  Thursday will be our Christian Character verse which is Mark 10:14.  Please see below for memory work.
  • Christian Character Formation Project:Our Christian Character story will focus on Jesus blessing the little children with our virtue being respect.
  • Weekly Quote: Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance…and everlasting joy will be theirs.  Isaiah 61:7
