Week of March 27th

A week away!  Hopefully you were able to enjoy lots of family time together whether you traveled or stayed home.  We have only three shorts weeks until our long Easter weekend were we celebrate Jesus victory over sin, death, and the devil.  May your Lenten season be one of continued prayer, reflection, and growth.

  • Spring Musical: Please mark your calendars for Friday, April 29th as the 3rd –5th grade will be performing “Living Inside Out in an Upside Down World.”  Our show times will be 2 pm and 6:45 pm.  Please fill out the google form regarding t-shirt sizes that was a part of my weekly email.
  • Reading: This week we will take some time to finish our book club books as well as review story structure elements.
  • Math: We will talk about multiplying 11s and 12s, multiplying three numbers, multiplying multiples of 10, metric lengths, and metric mass. Grades for multiplication ninja have been inputted into fast direct.  There is a possible score of 13 which indicates having earned the pencil.  Students that didn’t get to 13 should keep working for half credit and to receive their pencil.
  • Spelling: Our words this week will focus on vowel patterns having au, augh, ou, and ough.  You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 23 which has fun games and activities to learn the words.  https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
  • Religion: We have finished our lessons for the Old Testament.  We now shift again to the New Testament and focus on the stories of Mary honoring Jesus and the parable of the talents.
  • Writing: Since we are talking about story structure in Reading, we will continue this in writing as well by creating a story starting prompter and then choosing ideas from it to write about.
  • Memory Work:Tuesday’s memory will have us memorizing half of Luther’s Morning Prayer.  Thursday will be our Christian Character verse which is Mark 12:43.  Please see below for memory work.
  • Christian Character Formation Project:Our Christian Character story will focus on Jesus noticing a widow’s giving with our virtue being self-sacrifice.
  • Weekly Quote: You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.  Instead of the thorn bush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. – Isaiah 55:12-13

Always in His care,

Mrs. Haas
