Week of January 9th

What a week!  Thank to everyone as we navigate through these crazy times.  I appreciate your partnership and enjoy being your child each day!

  • Miss Goodwin: Our student teacher will be out this coming week but will be back for her final week starting January 17th.  Her time with us ends on January 21st.  I’d like to put together a special box for her to remember her time her.  If you and/or your child would like to add a special note, please have that to me by Friday, January 14th.  That way I can keep it a secret.
  • MAP Testing: We will have our MAP Math test right away on Tuesday morning.  Please encourage your child to do their best.
  • Reading: The students are heavy into our mystery unit which is close to wrapping up.  One of the fun ends to this unit is presenting some of what we have learned to the 2nd  Planning and presenting will be upcoming.
  • Math: This week we will learn about probability, do an investigation, take a test, and have our MAP test.
  • Spelling: This week’s words will focus on words with suffixes.  You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 14.  Spelling City has fun games and activities to learn the words.  https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
  • Religion: This week we will see move back to the Old Testament and learn more about the story of Moses.  Additionally we will be working on our chapel service which we lead on January 19th.
  • Writing: We will continue to plan and begin writing our own mystery stories.  I’m so looking forward to their creative minds coming to live through words.
  • Memory Work: Tuesday’s memory will be the start of the Old Testament books.  Because the spelling of so many of the books is difficult, these will be said orally.  In my email I will include a link for a song that can be used to learn the books.  Students may even sing it when they say it to me if they prefer.  Thursday will be our Christian Character Formation verse.  Please see below for memory work.
  • Christian Character Formation Project: Our lesson will show us how Jesus heals, prays, and teaches while the virtue is responsibility.
