What a week! We had a great time celebrating our school and Lutheran Schools all over the world. We learned more about Zambia and were surprised to hear that 95% of its population professes to be Christian. How cool!
- Reading: This week our novel study continues on a wonderful Beverly Cleary book. We have met Ramon in Ramona the Pest. Ask your child if they think Ramona is truly a pest and ask if they can defend their answer.
- Math: We have started our fun in learning multiplication. Students are well on their way to earning their ninja belts. Ask your child how many they have gotten. This week our lessons focus on perimeter, multiplying with 2s and 5s, and equal groups. We will have another test on Friday.
- Spelling: This week’s words will focus on the controlled –r- sound and how it can be spelled different way (ir, or, er, etc.). You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 17 which has fun games and activities to learn the words. https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
- Religion: Our lessons this week will continue our learning of Moses and the journey of the Israelites out of Egypt. We will discuss the plagues and the Passover.
- Writing: Our personal narrative unit has begun. We will continue to develop our stories about an event in our own lives.
- Memory Work: Tuesday’s memory will include the Old Testament books from last week plus more leading us through the entire Old Testament. In my email I will include a link for a song that can be used to learn the books. Students may even sing it when they say it to me if they prefer. Thursday will be our Christian Character verse is Mark 4:41. Please see below for memory work.
- Christian Character Formation Project: Our Christian Character story will focus on Jesus calming the storm with our virtue being courage.
- Weekly Quote: When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul…The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. – Psalm 94:18-19,22
Always in His care,
Mrs. Haas
