And we are all back! After some time with several virtual students, we are all back in person. What a gift! I pray it lasts! Stay healthy and safe!
- Miss Goodwin: Miss Goodwin was able to come back a couple days early due to policy changes on quarantine. She will be teaching all next week with her final day remaining January 21st. We wish her well as she officially graduates.
- Chapel: We have the opportunity to lead Chapel on Wednesday. We have been working hard. Please review lines with your child if they have lines. Not all do, but everyone has a part. You are welcome to attend, but we ask that you sit in the balcony.
- Parent/Teacher Conferences: I am excited to meet with you and your child. Please sign up for a time with the link sent earlier in the week. These conferences are student led. Therefore, I ask that you have your child with you during the conference.
- Reading: This week students will be working on creating a presentation on some aspect of their learning in the mystery unit. Then on Friday they will get to present to the 2nd grade what they learned. This is always exciting for both classes.
- Math: Our lessons this week focus on rectangles, length and width, rectangular grid patterns, and multiplication as repeated addition.
- Spelling: This week’s words will focus letter combinations that don’t follow the rules – gn, mb, wr, kn. You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 15 which has fun games and activities to learn the words. https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
- Religion: Our lessons this week focus on God Calling Moses and Pharaoh Disobeying God.
- Writing: Our mystery lessons will be completed this week with the students typing their final drafts. Please revise and proofread your child’s story prior to Monday. Thanks! We will be typing our final drafts.
- Memory Work: Tuesday’s memory will include the Old Testament books from last week plus more leading us through Song of Songs. Song of Songs was traditionally called Song of Solomon. If students learn it this way, I won’t mark that wrong. Because the spelling of so many of the books is difficult, these will be said orally. In my email I will include a link for a song that can be used to learn the books. Students may even sing it when they say it to me if they prefer. Thursday will be our Christian Character Formation verse – John 15:5. Please see below for memory work.
- Christian Character Formation Project:Our lesson will show us how The Parable of the Farmer and the Seed while the virtue is diligence.
- Weekly Quote: Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days…May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands. – Psalm 90:14,17
Always in His care,
Mrs. Haas
