Marching in like a lion and out like a lamb! We’ll see if March lives up to this saying. Honestly I haven’t looked at future forecast to know if it will be a lion like beginning. At any rate, March begins on Tuesday!
- Even Odds Pizza: Mark your calendars for March 1st and have pizza at Even Odds. You have to mention St. Paul in order for your purchase to be counted.
- Ash Wednesday: We will celebrate Ash Wednesday this week during Chapel. Students will have the opportunity to have ashes imposed on their foreheads or hands. We will talk about it in school, but you may talk with them at home as well regarding what this means and the background behind it. If you have a strong preference whether your child should or shouldn’t, please let them know. This is optional!
- Interest Day: This will happen on Friday which will give us a variety day in our learning. Then we will be dismissed at 11:40.
- Reading: The completion of reading Winn Dixie is in the near future. We will start a new book to read aloud together. Plus we are starting reading clubs. This will help us develop a story mountain together and in our groups.
- Math: This week we will explore congruent shapes, triangles, and multiplication facts with a fun math center day on Thursday.
- Spelling: Since we skipped spelling due to the Ice Day, our words this week are the same as last week’s. The words will focus on words with the following syllable pattern – vcccv. You may practice these words on Spelling City using unit 20 which has fun games and activities to learn the words. https://spellingcity.com/users/Haas
- Religion: Monday and Tuesday, our focus will be on Ash Wednesday and Lent with a few different activities to teach about what this means. Then Thursday will have a focus on God’s rules for worship.
- Writing:To round out our trimester, students will be reminded of the 6 Traits of Writing and work on a piece they have already started in their writing journals.
- Memory Work:Tuesday’s memory will bring us back to memorizing the New Testament books of the Bible through Philemon. Thursday will be our Christian Character verse which is Mark 9:7. Please see below for memory work.
- Christian Character Formation Project:Our Christian Character story will focus on Jesus appearing in glory with our virtue being respect.
- Weekly Quote: He has not left himself without testimony; He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven…he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. Acts 14:17
Always in His care,
Mrs. Haas
