Religion |
We will read about the birth of Jesus and Simeon and Anna meeting Jesus at the temple. We will discuss the Christmas story from the point of view of the shepherds, the animals at the stable, Mary, Joseph and the wise men. Virtue of the Week: INTEGRITY: God’s power for you to honor Him and others. Memory: The Second Article of the Apostles’ Creed (Redemption) I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. |

Reading |
Bill Bookman will continue to encourage the children to become word detectives as they read and decode new words and work to understand the meaning of the story. NEW and IMPORTANT- Christmas Activities – Thank you for the gingerbread house and Christmas party donations. We will have a class gift exchange ($7-$10) at our party on Dec. 22nd. Special Collection – In response to the novel The Family Under the Bridge, the Lutheran Junior Honor Society is collecting clothing, winter coats, hats, and gloves as well as toiletry items for Bob’s Under the Bridge, an organization that directly ministers to the homeless. Thank you for all your help! Reading Road Race Rally – Upcoming souvenir dates: 1/3 -Fleck 1/10 – Justman 1/24 Adickes The reading log that was sent home will be used for our Reading Road Race Rally. We will participate in this with Mrs. Boyce’s class. Please have your child read at least 20 minutes, 4 times a week. A star should be colored in for each reading session. Please note that shoeboxes (Glove Compartments) can stay at home to be filled with the souvenirs that are brought home each week. PAST NEWS- Room Parents/Liason- Thank you to Hilary Collins, Meagan Steinke and Jessica Loppnow for volunteering as our room parents this year. Snack – Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. I will have extra snacks available in case it is forgotten on a busy morning. Water bottles can be used throughout the day and can be refilled at the drinking fountain. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
