What is 1st Grade Learning?

Religion	We will find out how God showed his love to Adam and Eve even when they sinned. Memory: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Reading	The children will begin practice read to self, read to someone and word work which will be used during our guided reading group time. Phonics: Review short vowels, consonants and blends Reading Fluency Skill: Children will distinguish between Blah Readers and Avid Readers Spelling: – begins Sept. 8th
Writing	The children will set-up and add ideas to their Writer’s notebooks. Grammar: begins Sept. 8th
Math	Unit 1: Students will explore ways to use math to solve real-world situations, explore ways to explain their thinking, and explore strategies for describing and extending patterns.
Science	Lesson 2: How Can We Use Our Senses to Observe the World and Serve God
Social Studies	Unit 1: Families and Communities

Please Note…

NEW and IMPORTANT-

Snack –Please send a healthy snack with your child each day. I will have extra snacks available in case it is forgotten on a busy morning. Water bottles can be used during the day and can be refilled at the drinking fountain.

Summer Reading Logs – Summer reading logs should be turned in to Mrs. Willman.

Back to School Night – Please join us on Tues. Sept. 1st at 6:00 for our Back to School Information Night. Large group will begin at 6:00 and classroom meetings will be at 6:30 and then repeat again at 7:15.

Chapel- Our chapel offerings for August and September will be used for Care Packages for college students
