Nov. 29 – Dec. 3 Time to Sleep Hibernation

During this unit, the children will learn about which animals hibernate, migrate, or adapt for the winter.  We will learn about what they do to prepare for the long winter months.   All of the children are invited to bring in a stuffed animal to school on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We will let these animals “hibernate” in our classroom for the week. Please make sure that the animal that your child brings to school is a hibernating animal and one that won’t be missed overnight!  If your child cannot part from their favorite hibernating animal, you may bring in a picture of an animal to hibernate instead of a stuffed one. Examples of animals that hibernate are: squirrels, snakes, frogs, mice, worms, ladybugs, snails, toads, woodchucks, brown bats, caterpillars, bears, chipmunks, raccoons and skunks. When your child is choosing something, please help them select something that would really hibernate and discourage things such as dogs, cats, monkeys and horses. Thanks for your help.

We will also practice the letter “Q” for quiet in our letter journals, sort animals that migrate or hibernate and make patterns. We will be making a special Advent Calendar to help your family countdown the days until Jesus’ birthday! Each night before your child goes to bed, please say your prayers, sing your Christmas songs and then color a star on the Advent Calendar. I hope that this helps you and your family begin to prepare your hearts for Jesus’ Birthday! Our Bible lesson will be Joseph Forgives His Brothers from Genesis 44 & 45. We will talk about how God forgives our sins and how He wants us to forgive others.

Our Christmas Service is quickly approaching on Saturday December 18th. We are starting to learn our songs and fingerplays for our Christmas Service. I have typed out the words for you to practice at home. I know that it is hard to practice without knowing the tunes to the songs, so just do the best that you can.  The MWF AM Class will have their service at 9:00am and the MWF PM Class and T/Th Class will have their service at 10:30am. Please note the Christmas Service practice date and times that we will have on Friday, December 17th. Please practice the words before you go to bed at night.
