May 4-8, 2026 “Safety Smart”

This week we will be learning about different ways that we can be safe at home and at school.  We will take time to talk and learn about playground safety!   We will practice the letter “X” in our letter journals by putting an “X” over the pictures of things that are not safe. Our Bible lessons will be Jesus Feeds More Than 5000 People from Matthew 14:13-21. We will talk about how we can trust that Jesus will provide for all of our needs.

I will not be in school on Friday May 1st – Wednesday May 6th. I will be going to California for my son’s graduation with my family. Mrs. Schumacher will be the teacher on Friday and Mrs. Schultz will be here on Monday-Wednesday. They are very excited to spend time with your child!

We look forward to hosting our “Day With Mom” on Friday May 8th. The guests can come to class with their child. It will be a fun-filled day of activities to do together as we celebrate the special woman that God has given us in our lives!

We will be singing in church on May 10th at the 10:30am service. The kids are already learning the song and preparing to praise Jesus through their special music.

I also wanted to address some safety concerns that we are noticing. If you arrive at school prior to the doors being open, and are waiting to enter the classroom, we kindly ask that you please make sure your child is not running or horse playing inside of school. We want to ensure the safety of all students and families and set a good example for school behavior. This also includes encouraging your child to walk into school and not run to their cubbies. In addition, we have noticed that students who are utilizing the playground after class have been putting wood chips and sticks on the playground. We would like to keep this area free from debris, so please do not pick up the wood chips from under the shrubs and the surrounding the area. Also, make sure that your child is following all of the playground rules that we have been using at school. We ask that the kids walk inside the playground area, climb up the stairs/climbing wall and go down the slide on their bottom with their feet first. Thank you for helping to keep our school safe for all!

Please also remember that as the weather gets warmer, we will be going outside for fresh air! Please make sure that your child has proper clothes to be outside – a warm coat and hat if necessary.
