Fourth Grade Weekly Update (5/4-5/8)
Good afternoon, fourth grade families!

This week’s note is from Mrs. Steiner, again. I am happy to be back and to see our class. I am looking forward to finishing out the year strong, as we look ahead to all of the fun things that May has to offer.

MAP Testing Notes: This week, letters went home giving you an opportunity to write an encouraging note to your student for MAP testing. Please return those with your children before next Friday, so that all can have a special surprise and encouragement from you before we begin our testing.

Tournament of Books: This week, Chester was crowned the winner of St. Paul’s Tournament of Books. If your child would like to order the winning book, please fill out the order form that will go home on Monday, or see the form attached to the Echo this week.

Intro to Middle School Night: This will take place this Wednesday evening at 6pm.

Field Trip Forms: Permission slips were sent home for our end of the year field trip this week. Please have these returned no later than Wednesday, May 6. Forms for our Madison field trip will be coming home soon, as well.

National Day of Prayer: On Thursday, May 7, our school will participate in the National Day of Prayer beginning at 8:30am at the flagpole on the north side of campus. During this time, we will pray together and recognize our local police officers, firefighters, veterans, and celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country. Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in honor of this special day. If the weather does not allow us to be outside, the event will take place inside the church.

Shorts: Students are allowed to wear shorts to school for the rest of the school year.  Shorts must be mid-thigh length or longer and may have a decorative frayed hem.  Spandex, biker shorts, cutoffs (jeans or sweatpants), torn shorts, tight or short shorts, and athletic shorts are not permitted.  Students in PreK-4th grade may wear athletic shorts on non-chapel days with the understanding that they are mid-thigh length or longer.  When the weather is cold, like it was on May 1, students should be dressed appropriately to go outside for recess.

Science Extra Credit Opportunity: Students were given the opportunity for science extra credit today. It is due Monday if they choose to complete their activity.

Spelling: Our theme for this week is homophones-

Memory:
  • For Tuesday: Luther’s Second Article: And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
  • For Thursday: 1st half of explanation to Luther’s Second Article: What does this mean? I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil
As we make this transition in teaching for the final month of the year, please reach out with any questions you may have and how I can support you. Have a great weekend!
