We will learn about what it means to recycle and the importance of recycling this week. We will practice sorting different items by how we can recycle them. We will have fun taking “trash” items and making them into treasures. We will also practice the letter “Gg” in our letter journals and practice sorting recyclable items and trash. Our Bible lesson will be the story “Jesus Brings a Dead Girl Back to Life from Matthew 9:18-26. We will talk about how Jesus has the power to heal and to forgive sins and how we should thank Him for His help and forgiveness.
I will not be in school on Friday May 1st – Wednesday May 6th. I will be going to California for my son’s graduation with my family. Mrs. Schumacher will be the teacher on Friday and Mrs. Schultz will be here on Monday-Wednesday. They are very excited to spend time with your child!
Please put May 8th on your Calendar as a special day for your child at school. We will be hosting a “Special Day With Mom”. Please do your best to take off work or invite a Grandma, Aunt or other special woman to come and spend a class session with your child. We will have activities, crafts and a snack! The invitation was sent home last week. Please RSVP so that we can plan accordingly! TTh class, if you are able to come, you may choose which session you would like to attend. Please indicate the time that you will be coming by circling it on your RSVP.
We will be singing in church on May 10th at the 10:30am service. The kids are already learning the song and preparing to praise Jesus through their special music.
I also wanted to address some safety concerns that we are noticing. If you arrive at school prior to the doors being open, and are waiting to enter the classroom, we kindly ask that you please make sure your child is not running or horse playing inside of school. We want to ensure the safety of all students and families and set a good example for school behavior. This also includes encouraging your child to walk into school and not run to their cubbies. In addition, we have noticed that students who are utilizing the playground after class have been putting wood chips and sticks on the playground. We would like to keep this area free from debris, so please do not pick up the wood chips from under the shrubs and the surrounding the area. Also, make sure that your child is following all of the playground rules that we have been using at school. We ask that the kids walk inside the playground area, climb up the stairs/climbing wall and go down the slide on their bottom with their feet first. Thank you for helping to keep our school safe for all!
Please also remember that as the weather gets warmer, we will be going outside for fresh air! Please make sure that your child has proper clothes to be outside – a warm coat and hat if necessary.
