We are currently reading The Watsons go to Birmingham as a class. This historical fiction novel centers around the “Weird-Watson” family as they journey from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. This week’s reading will follow the family as they arrive in Birmingham and adjust to life in the South with Grandma Sands. We will be reading about and discussing the 16th Street Church bombing that took place in Birmingham in 1963 as well as the affects that the trauma had on Kenny and his family.
