Science Donations: We are going to be needing some household items for science labs in the coming weeks. Please consider a donation if you are able. We are looking for: two packets of soup mix, some sand in ziplock bag, a few small Kool-Aid packets, and 10-12 glow sticks (preferably the same color). Thanks for considering!
World of Discovery Fair: Please WAIT to begin work on the World of Discovery Fair projects until your proposal has been accepted by the WODF Committee. Thank you!
Secret Angels: A Christmas tradition in middle school is our Secret Angel gift exchange. Students draw the name of one of their classmates and surprise this person with treasures and treats between December 1 and our last full day, December 21. Please spend only $10 total. Some students provide smaller gifts more frequently (often one per week) while other students leave hints and give one a little bit larger gift. Either way, know that this is a lot of fun. The fifth graders have already picked names and hopefully they have shared this with you!
The 5-8 grade Advent service is December 15. Please keep this date open. All of the fifth graders will have a speaking part for this service.
December Book Club / Service Project: In response to our book club novel The Family Under the Bridge, the Lutheran Junior Honor Society is collecting clothing, winter coats, hats, and gloves as well as toiletry items for Bob’s Under the Bridge, an organization that directly ministers to the homeless. Please consider a family donation this holiday season.
Gradual Release of Responsibility – Please continue to hold a weekly meeting. At this point, it may be a reminder to log in and then sit with your child as he/she checks his/her grades. Please continue to ask your child daily to show you the assignment printout each night and confirm that he/she is filling out his/her assignment notebook accurately. Encourage your child to use a checklist/cross out strategy as they complete each assignment.
