We will begin our book club unit this week. Much of what we do in class will involve prepping and reading to get ourselves immersed and familiar with the setting and characters. Book club books are due on Tuesday and need to be physically with the student in the classroom. This is a 5 point grade. Local libraries are a great resource for this purpose. This is the time to help your child find a book that they are interested in because it is free choice. Just keep in mind that the book MUST be in the realistic fiction genre (meaning that the events in the story reflect things that could happen in real life).

3 Double-Entry Diary Entries (Due Friday) – For each week of this unit, 3 diary entries will be due at the end of the week based on weekly reading work. For each entry, a significant quote/passage must be written down. Then, respond with an explanation why those quotes are important. These are done in the Reading Notebook. Each quote should include the page number that it is found on.
