It was a great first week back for 5th
grade. The kids picked up where they left off and that was
awesome to see. These next few weeks are usually difficult
because of weather and other factors. It will be important to
keep them focused and doing their best. We also
have MAP testing next week on Tuesday and Thursday so please make
sure we are rested and ready to go! The classes
have been updated. Blessings on your weekend!

that will include zeros, probability, writing quotients as a mixed
number, subtracting a fraction from 1, and finding a fraction to
complete a whole.

Science
|
In Science, we started our study of cells this
week. Students learned about what cells are and why they are
important. We also learned some of the most important parts
of cells and their function. Early next week, we will talk about
inherited traits and give some examples of dominant and recessive
traits. Most of next week will be focused on different body
systems and their functions. No major tests or projects are planned
at this time. On Tuesday, January
12, we will not have science class as the 5th graders
will be taking their Winter Math MAP test
during that time. Please be sure your
child gets a good night of sleep the night before and easts a
filling breakfast that morning. It is also helpful if you are
able to have a short conversation at home, encouraging your student
to do his/her best on this test. As always, you can keep up
with our day to day assignments and any changes to this schedule
