Marvelous Spring Music Notes!
1) It has been a different year with me going into
rooms on a cart for Gr. K-4. Overall we have been able to do a lot
of great music learning! We have also been blessed this year with
new Orff instruments and ukuleles that will be used fully next year
- I can't wait!
2) Spring Band Concert is
Friday, May 17 at 2pm & 6:30pm. Hear the Beginning and Concert
Bands and look for more details to come!
3) Audition dates for
regional groups -
Milwaukee Children's Choir (MCC) is holding auditions
for their choirs. They have many choirs for different ages and
abilities for Gr. 1-12. Info at https://milwaukeechildrenschoir.org/join/audition .
Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) has many
options for Gr.7-12 instrumentalists and video auditions are due
April 30. https://www.myso.org/. Though they
are time & travel commitments, students learn a lot and have a
lot of incredible opportunities. We have had various St. Paul
students participate in the past.
4)
Helpers are needed for running
powerpoint in chapel/weekend worship services
(all year long). If your 6th grade student (or
older) would like to do it, please contact me. Sign up
at
https://tinyurl.com/ SPLSignups. With 5 services every
weekend, there are many opportunities to serve. The first couple
times, it is helpful to have a parent sit with them to assist if
necessary. Powerpoints are used, but 10-15 minutes of training will
explain the unique aspects of our setup and things to be aware of
in worship. These can also be used as service hours.

General
Notes...
1) I have
missed making music with you! I hope you have been singing and
making music since I have seen you last! I have gotten some
pictures and notes telling me what you are up to and have loved it.
I was busy learning how to create, record, and edit worship
services, so I understand the challenge of new technology and doing
things in a different way. Now I want to connect with
you!
2) Music for Gr. K-4 is OPTIONAL
enrichment.
Gr.
K-3: I will give you different activities you
can choose from. The first 2 weeks it is in the form of this Music Choice Board PDF. You can try out
activities as you have time - try to get a Bingo (5 in a
row!) Or you can do enough to make a letter 'H' or 'N' or
'X'. A couple boxes have links to either my
SPLMusicTeach YouTube playlist or to the school's website. The goal is to have some
creative joyful time that implements music making and/or listening
skills. You don't have to return anything to me each week - just
have fun! If you want to share a picture or a video, just email it
to me - but no requirements. :-)
Gr.
4:
We will keep moving forward with recorder. Work on Recorder
Karate and we will figure out how to earn belts. Use Google
Classroom (let me know if you still need the class code) and
Flipgrid. Let me know if you are having troubles.
3) Music for Gr.
5-8 is GRADED, but self-paced.
Gr.
5-8:
Music for Gr. 5-8 is
generally self-paced and graded. (Lower grade music is optional,
but not in Gr. 5-8. In Google Classroom, there are 2 groups of
assignments you must complete before the end of school. All
assignments are up so they can be worked on as you wish. The
first one is due on May 14 and the second is due May 27.

General
Notes...
1) STUDENTS in Gr.
6-8 will sing "In Christ Alone" on Saturday, March 14 for 5pm
worship. We will meet to practice and
line up in the church balcony at
4:40pm. Students will sit together
until time to sing (about 5:15) and then go to their families. Song
lyrics are available at the right on the Song
Lyric page.
2) Recorders have started for
4th & 5th grades. Please check out the Recorders page to the
right for due dates and info!
3) Thank you
for your prayers and cards and kind words after my
father died in February and also regarding the Herb Kohl
Fellowship. I am humbled and gratefully overwhelmed by your care
and support. I am blessed to be part of St. Paul where the caring
is felt so much.
4) Helpers are needed for running

would like to do it, please contact me. There is a sign-up on

5) Playing piano/instrument for
worship is a great way to encourage
students to use their gifts for the Lord. Often classical
pieces are fine to use in worship or there many levels of
piano books with hymns and worship songs in them. Pieces should be
practiced to their very best so as to assist (not distract) in
worship. I want to encourage students of intermediate skill level
or higher to aim for playing in church. Students at an elementary
skill level can aim to play for chapel
services. Please contact Miss Bremer if
you are interested - even if a piece isn't ready or not even chosen
yet!
