Middle School Religion — Mrs. Butz

Weekly Update - March 25, 2019

Here is what will be happening this coming week!

5th Grade
This week we continue looking at David. We will talk about how David bravely fought Goliath, because he knew God was on his side and would fight for His people. We will then move on to David's friendship with Jonathan, and will end the week beginning to talk about David's sin with Bathsheba.

Memory Quiz #27 - March 27th
Memory will be your  Old Testament verse and how you are supposed to apply this verse to your life.

Journal this week - Journal #26 - DUE March 29th
We live in a world of competition. Sometimes we stand in the spotlight, and sometimes we sit in the shadows. King Saul and Jonathan both had a relationship with David. Describe each of the relationships and why they were so different. How can we be a good friend to those around us?

6th Grade
We continue our journey to the cross with Jesus and His disciples. We'll be finishing our discussion  Jesus going before Pontius Pilate. At the end of the week we will talk more about Jesus' crucifixion and what His sacrifice means for us.

Memory Quiz  #26 - March 28th
2nd Article of the Apostles Creed ~ I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

Journal #26 - DUE March 29th
The Second Article of the Apostles Creed paints a beautiful picture of who Jesus is and what He has done for each of us. Why is it important that we know and understand the following things from the Second Article of the Apostles Creed? That Jesus is God's Son. That Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate and was crucified, died, and was buried. That Jesus descended into hell, and the third day He rose again from the dead. That Jesus ascended into heaven and is sitting at the right hand of God, and one day He will come to judge the living and the dead.

  7th Grade
We wrap up our study of the Lord's Prayer this week. We will be taking a look at  the 7th petition (But deliver us from evil) and the conclusion (or Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.). We will be taking a deeper look at what we are saying when we pray this prayer and what we are asking God to do when we pray this prayer.

Memory Quiz #25 - DUE March 28th
The Lord's Prayer ~ The Third Petition - Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, the Fourth Petition - Give us this day our daily bread, and the Fifth Petition - And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Journal #26 - DUE March 29th
God has commanded us to pray and promises to hear us when we pray. The word AMEN means YES! It shall be so. What does knowing this mean for us when we pray? When can praying be something difficult for you to do? What happens when we don't seem to get an answer to our prayers? What is God telling us? How can we find comfort in this?
