The month of January has come and gone by so quickly! What a great month we had together! I look forward to the month of February! Here's a sneak preview of the month ahead!
Jan 30-Feb. 3...Shadows
During this week, we will learn about the tale of Groundhog's Day. We will practice the letter "G" for groundhog and read a groundhog story. We will "play" with light and shadows. We will be having a shadow show on Monday and Tuesday. Please have your child bring 1 item to school that they will use to make a shadow behind a sheet while their classmates try to guess what the item is. Our Bible lesson will be Jesus Teaches about Birds and Flowers from Luke 12:22-32.
Feb. 6-10...Love Is In The Air
The children will have fun celebrating God's love throughout the week.
We will practice the letter "E" for envelope and we will be making a Valentine card to send to someone special. Please have your child bring in a stamped envelope for the Valentine card. Check your calendar for the date that these are due. We will also spend time getting ready for our Valentine's Day parties on the 13th & 14th.
I have sent home the names of the children in your child's class. You may make valentine cards to give to their friends at school. Instead of writing out all of the names, just have your child cut the names on the lines and glue or tape them to the cards. We will be making valentine card holders at school and the children will "deliver" their valentines to the correct "mailbox". Please encourage your child to "sign" his/her name on the card. Our Bible lesson will be Jesus Stops a Storm from Matthew 8:23 - 27.
Feb. 13–17 & 21-24…Dinosaurs
We will have fun being little paleontologists and discover the world of dinosaurs through a Christian perspective during this unit. The children will search for dinos, learn important characteristics about dinos, sort, pattern, and graph dinos. We will practice the letter “D” for dinosaur in our letter journal. Our Bible lessons will be Jesus Feeds the 5000 from John 6:1-13 where we will learn that Jesus gives us what we need; and the story of Mary and Martha from Luke 10:38-42 where we will learn that we need to make time to learn about Jesus.
We will have an OUTSIDE PLAY DAY on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and Thursday, Feb. 23. Please make sure that your child has warm clothes, winter coat, hat, snow pants, boots, and mittens!
February 27- Mar 2...Dr. Seuss on the Loose
This will be a fun unit where the children will have an opportunity to explore the world of Dr. Seuss. We will play rhyming games and make a little book of 1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. We will practice letter "B" for books and make a Dr. Seuss hat. We will also enjoy a little "green eggs and ham". Our Bible lesson will be the story of Jesus Heals a Deaf Man from Matthew 7.
