December Curriculum Clues
December 3-7
Theme-Time for Bed
On Monday and Tuesday your child is invited to bring an animal to "hibernate" in our classroom during the week. Please help them choose one that would truly hibernate instead of just letting them pick their favorite puppy or pony. Some examples of creatures that truly do hibernate are skunks, mice, snakes, ladybugs, and frogs. Some animals are labeled "snoozers" which means they do sleep a lot but they do wake up from time to time. A bear is an example of a "snoozer" and also would be good to bring. If your child does not want to part with one of their stuffed animals for a week, you could send along a picture of the animal. All creatures will be returned at the end of the week. We also will wear pajamas to class on Wednesday and Thursday.
We will discuss what different things animals do in the winter to survive. This will include migrating, hibernating, and remaining in their habitat. We will make a treat for the animals that remain active because it may be hard for them to find food. We will be introduced to the letter "Hh" for hibernate.
Our Christmas story continues with "Jesus is Born!" God cares for us so much that He sent Jesus to save all people from their sins.
December 10-14
Theme-Getting Ready for Christmas
We will celebrate the birth of Jesus through various songs, fingerplays, Bible stories and activities. Our main focus will be the best Christmas gift-JESUS! The songs and the words the children are learning for their service are printed on the following sheets. Due to copyright laws I can't reproduce the music, just the words. Your children are currently learning them so this is a tool to help you at home. They will easily be able to learn them at school.
December 14th is a mass practice for ALL classes from 8:15- 9:15 a.m.
"Angels Tell the Shepherds" will be our final Bible lesson this month. The news of Jesus' birth was so important that God sent angels to announce His coming to the shepherds. Jesus was born to save all people.
December17-21
Theme-Jesus is Born!
We will continue to celebrate Advent and Christmas this week. Each session will have their own Christmas party on Wednesday and Thursday, December 19th and 20th. During the parties there will be a gift exchange between the children. Girls are asked to bring a girl's gift and boys are asked to bring a boy's gift. Please spend around $3.00. The gift should be labeled whom it is from so they do not get their own gift back. They may be brought in anytime after Thanksgiving. There will be three different boxes in our classrooms labeled to put the gifts in.
“The Shepherds Worship Jesus” is our Bible lesson this week before Christmas. God helps us tell everyone the great Good News of Jesus, who was born to save all people.

The MWF PM class welcomes Quentin Butschlick. We are happy to have you!
ALL A.M. AND P.M. CLASSES will have a mass practice on Friday, December 14th from 8:15-9:15 a.m. BOTH A.M. CLASSES and the P.M. Class should arrive at 8:15 and stay until 9:15 a.m. Please meet in the classroom. Parents can pick up their child in church. There will be no afternoon session this day.
The actual day of our Christmas service is Sunday, December 16th. The children are asked to COME TO OUR CLASSROOM 15 MINUTES before the service begins. Parents, friends, and other family members should go and find a seat in the church. Your child will sit with their class and then you may pick them up again in their classroom when the service is over. They do not wear any specific costumes; just dress them in clothes that you would wear to church. All friends and relatives are invited to join us. Flash pictures are not allowed during the worship service. Refreshments will be served following the service in the Family Life Center (right outside of our classroom). All of the students in our class are asked to bring in two dozen plated cookies. The cookies can be brought to church with the children the day of the service.
This is a very exciting time of the year. Focus your hearts and lives on the baby in the manger. May you have a most blessed Christmas season.
